ROCKLAND, Maine—Passion of place is what the Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show is all about. The best of Maine from across the creative spectrum will be gathered together at the 10th annual show on the Rockland waterfront, August 10-12, 2012. Beautiful boats, unique handcrafted products, and an eclectic mix of high-quality goods for life on the water and the shore will again be on display at Maine’s only in-the-water boat show and coastal lifestyle event. “I’ve always thought of the show as a tremendous party where the most creative folks on the coast share what they do with customers and other exhibitors. Tens of thousands of guests have joined us over the years—from around the country and the globe—to see Maine’s talent first-hand, ” said John K. Hanson, Jr., show founder and Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors magazine publisher. The Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show was launched ten years ago as the “live” version of Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors magazine to provide readers the opportunity to meet the people who make the products they love. “For 25 years, the magazine has celebrated all aspects of coastal creativity,” said Hanson, “with articles that features boats and boatbuilding, the work of outstanding craftsmen from a wide variety of fields including furniture making and architecture, plus all the things that go into life on the coast—the natural landscape, food, and community.” At the show, attendees experience the power of creativity multiplied, with hundreds of exhibitors from many locations and disciplines displaying their wares at a common venue. In an afternoon, it is possible to see what would otherwise take years of travel to individual businesses. It’s an opportunity to board boats, lounge in handcrafted chairs, admire artwork and jewelry, and be reminded of how much creative talent there is along the shores of the Gulf of Maine. Some of the finest examples of Maine-built boats, from rowing craft and kayaks to sailboats and poweryachts, will be on display, as well as marine supplies, fine furnishings and home wares, photography and books, and sustainable energy products to round out life on the coast. Experience the finest that Maine has to offer in one location. The usual array of quirky events, live music, terrific food, and activities for family fun will also take place throughout the weekend, including the ever-popular World Championship Boatyard Dog® Trials on Sunday, August 12 at 10:30 a.m. Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors is pleased to acknowledge the following sponsors who have generously shown their support for the 2012 show: Awlgrip, Bangor Savings Bank, The Bark, Custom Float Services, Fixtures…Designer Plumbing Showroom, Jaret & Cohn Real Estate, Knight Marine Service, Loyal Biscuit Co., Sea Bags, and Yachting Solutions/Cannell, Payne & Page.
