Fine woodworker by day, fine artist by night, Stephen Florimbi brings a practical perfectionism to every job. Whether your project is for land or water, he has the resources and experience to find beautiful solutions to suit your needs. Born in Philadelphia, raised in Madrid, spending summers on the Jersey Shore, Florimbi started as a carpenter’s, then timberframer’s helper during college in New Hampshire where he studied economics and art. After graduating, he designed and built his own skiff, meeting master builders Bud McIntosh, Dave Dupee, and Sam Hunt who inspired him to join the Apprenticeshop, then in Rockport, Maine. There he built a Whitehall, a catboat, numerous skiffs, and bought a Casco Bay Hampton sailboat for his very own. He has kept working with wood ever since, designing and building timberframe houses, barns, and workshops; renovating classic yachts and homes; constructing new vessels from 8’ to 50’+; and repairing well-loved wooden things from 1840s window trim to the HMS Bounty. Most recently he has completed a woodworking shop/studio where he’d be happy to give you a tour and discuss future projects.
