John's Bay Boat Company, located in South Bristol on the west branch of John's Bay, has been building and repairing wooden boats since 1983. A small, intimate yard with extensive capabilities, we feature a 25-ton capacity railway, an 8-ton crane, and complete carpentry, paint, and fiberglass facilities. We also do machine work, offer expert metal fabrication services, and have installed numerous engines of every major brand.

While we are happy to perform any repair your boat may require, our focus over the years has been new construction. Projects have ranged from rugged offshore lobsterboats to the finest yachts. The ability to combine traditional wooden boat construction with modern techniques and materials has made us one of the most productive builder of wooden boats on the coast.

John's Bay Boat recently launched Agamenticus, a “state-of-the-art” 42’ lobsterboat for Ed Grant of York, Maine. The Agamenticus replaces Ed's former boat, the Samuel Ryan built by John's Bay Boat in 2000. Currently, the crew is planking our 60th wooden hull: a 41’ lobsteryacht for Scott Dugas of Yarmouth, Maine—another repeat customer.

Our crew’s 25 years of experience and dedication makes it easy for us to accommodate your needs. John's Bay Boat can offer you a superior vessel at a price that might surprise you.
