The Sculpture of John Bisbee
The Portland Museum of Art will present an overview of the work of Brunswick, Maine, sculptor John Bisbee, best known for his inventive pieces made from brads, nails, and spikes. In addition to some of his earliest pieces, the exhibition will include several of his most recent “one ton” works—large-scale installation pieces that climb the walls, snake across the floor, or pile up in corners. The exhibition will also include a video documentary of Bisbee’s recent installation at the Bonnaroo Music Festival. Taken together, the 25 works on view will cover his career over the past 20 years.

20th Annual Lobster Dip for Maine Special Olympics
New Years Day at noon, on the beach, by the Brunswick Hotel – be a volunteer dipper! You will be taking a dip in the Atlantic Ocean to raise $100 for Maine Special Olympics. Costumes encouraged. Chicken Dippers also wanted, simply raise $100 and dip your feet in a warm pool. All will be treated to a complimentary, post-dip, New Year’s Day bash at the Brunswick. Camden Harbour Inn Goes Thai!
The inn and award-winning restaurant, Natalie’s, are spicing up the winter with a Thai culinary event. This exceptional dinner experience will feature a fusion of Thai and western dishes prepared by guest Chef Michael MacDonnell. During Thai week, the Camden Harbour Inn hopes to raise money to help 16 year-old Camden resident, Sam Fernald, in his effort to help build communities in the very poor and remote areas of Northern Thailand this summer. By working at Natalie’s every night during Thai week Sam hopes to raise $3,000 and he will be available to inform you about his trip. This early music group performs mainly Medieval and Renaissance works "a cappella" (without accompaniment). The name translates to "Hail Star of the Sea," fitting for a group based in midcoast Maine. The group strives to bring unusual works to Maine audiences. More familiar works by such renowned composers as Palestrina, Josquin Des Prez, and William Byrd are also a large part of the group's repertoire. In addition, Ave Maris Stella sings Sephardic songs and English madrigals, and has recently delved into music from Corsica and the republic of Georgia. 3:00 pm, First Church in Belfast, 8 Court Street.
