John Poignand's creativity is a fusion of nature, photography, and computer art. His limited-edition canvas and fine art paper prints are the product of high-quality digital imaging, and reflect his skills as a master gardener and floral artist. The prints reveal incredible details and hues, often showing nuances not seen by the naked eye.

Poignand’s subjects are found among the ponds and gardens scattered on his half-acre garden near Ryders Cove on Cape Cod, including hollies, evergreens, various trees, and perennials galore.

To create the images, flowers, vegetables, and leaves are placed directly onto, or suspended above, a digital scanner at 12,000 pixels per inch. Images are adjusted using Adobe Photoshop and a black background is added to create a three-dimensional look.

Using fine art paper or canvas, the images are printed using an Epson 9800 color printer. Sizes begin at 4 inches by 6 inches; stretch canvas images measure 40 by whatever the size of the image requires. Prints are issued in limited editions.

Poignand also produces tiles of his work, including tailor-designed murals appropriate for the kitchen or bathroom. Tiles are available in the gift shop at The Cape Cod Museum of Fine Art in Dennis, MA.
