R. Kirk Moore, Painter

R. Kirk Moore began painting in 1973 in Aix-en-Provence, France under the tutelage of Leo Marchutz after graduating with a BA in theology from Georgetown University and studying drawing with Frank Wright at George Washington University. Mr. Moore’s works are in collections throughout the United States and Europe. His works are currently shown at the Carver Hill Gallery in Rockport, Maine, Camden Falls Gallery in Camden, Maine, Synchronicity Fine Arts in Manhattan, and Beauregard Fine Arts in Rumson, New Jersey.

Originally a New Jersey native, Kirk Moore has been captivated by the coast of Maine for more than 25 years and now finds himself a Mid-Coast resident.

The strength of color and form inherent in his work manifest the clarity of his vision as well as his appreciation of the Maine light on a variety of subjects. Moore is well known for waterfront images, such as a raft of dinghies, working boats, docks, pilings and bridges, or elegant sailing vessels on shimmering waters. Kirk may just as adeptly impart the cool shade of a canopied land or the warmth of a sun-drenched doorstep on a mellow autumn afternoon.

Moore studied at Georgetown University, George Washington University, American University, and in Aix-en-Provence, France. His work has been featured in shows in New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine. Kirk’s paintings are now in collections throughout the United States, and collections in England, Ireland, Switzerland, France, Austria, Bermuda and Australia.
