Eggemoggin Reach Regatta
The Eggemoggin Reach Regatta began humbly in 1985 as an opportunity for wooden boat owners to get together and enjoy each others' company as well as to compete. The race quickly grew to 125 boats and is now co-hosted by Brooklin Boatyard and Rockport Marine. The regatta's 15-mile course has remained the same for many years, and only once was the race canceled due to fog. (The party still happened though!) The Camden Feeder Regatta and the Castine Classic Yacht Race have joined the ERR to create a truly spectacular three-day event. Wooden boats of 26' or longer are qualified to enter and must do so by July 26. Boothbay Boat Builders & Seafood Festival
Tour East Boothbay’s famous shipyards, marina and sail lofts, meet small boat builders with their boats, and board the 125-foot schooner Spirit of Massachusetts, operated by the Ocean Classroom Foundation. Visit famous working and pleasure vessels and attend lectures about boats and other nautical topics. August 8 – 10, 2008: Rockland
Sixth Annual Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show
The sixth annual Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show will feature boats in the water, boats on land, fine furniture and home wares, the arts, architecture and delicious food. This event is Maine's only in-the-water boat show, and it is also the only show to feature dozens of Maine's most talented furniture makers, architects, and builders. Combined on one spectacular waterfront site, these craftspeople present all the essential components for living the good life on the coast of Maine. There will be hands-on demonstrations, live music, children's activities, exhibits, and, of course, the ever-popular World Championship Boatyard Dog® Trials on Sunday (only pre-registered dogs may compete, see maineboats.com/boatshow for entry information). 44th Annual Winter Harbor Lobster Festival
Every August, the Winter Harbor Lobster Festival is a fun-filled day with many scheduled events kicking off at 8:00 am. Watch the ever-popular lobsterboat races, with 13 classes rated by size and power, eat a Maine lobster dinner and stay for the late afternoon parade at 5:30. Salt Bay Chamberfest
In its 14th season, Chamberfest harbors a community of highly specialized musicians who come together in mid-coast Maine for two weeks. Their work culminates in scintillating, thought-provoking performances of the great masterpieces of the chamber music literature. The range of repertoire is vast and includes works spanning four centuries, from Baroque to present day. 31st Annual New England Auto Auction
Bidders and spectators from around the world will converge upon the Owls Head Transportation Museum as up to 200 outstanding consigned antique, classic and special-interest automobiles—from every era—head to the auction block. Each year, the New England Auto Auction represents one of the finest collections of automobiles assembled in New England. Even if you aren't necessarily looking to buy – enjoy the classic autos and high drama along with bidders. The auction preview is Friday, August 22 from 10 am - 5 pm and on the morning of sale. Registered bidders are seated in our open-air pavilion. Spectators are seated under open-air tents with a full view of the action. Quality consignments are now being accepted. Blue Hill Fair
The annual Blue Hill Fair is a traditional down-to-earth country fair featuring livestock and agricultural exhibitions, fine entertainment, food, a full carnival and midway, drawing thousands from all over the state to enjoy a fun-filled weekend. Among the many attractions featured is a large livestock area, full of the usual farm animals. The young at heart will enjoy the popular “Zuckerman’s Farm” animal exhibit, as well as the llamas and alpacas on display. A short distance from the livestock area, one may take in Draft Horse and Oxen Pulling. A number of local groups participate with a variety of food and games, Smokey’s Greater Shows provides all kinds of mechanical thrills. Enjoy The Great Maine LumberJack Show; long-time Blue Hill Fair favorite, Rick Charette and the Bubble Gum Band; the Imperial Hell Drivers, with their international array of dare devil “Danger Angels”; and a mammoth fireworks display. 14th Annual Windjammer Weekend
The largest annual gathering of historic tall ships in the U.S with a spectacular parade of sail against the majestic pine-shrouded backdrop of Camden Hills. Visitors will be able to watch the parade of more than 30 schooners a they converge on Camden Harbor. Crews will offer tours and cruises to passengers, then spill out of their boats to join the fun. Windjammer Weekend offers something for everyone: a Build-A-Boat contest that consistently inspires a meshing of efficiency with eccentricity; a family treasure hunt, the popular Harbor Hounds Dog Show, lobster crate races, a book fair, free movie screening of Captains Courageous that encourages moviegoers to wear foul weather gear, a pie-baking contest, and the 4th Annual Chowdah Challenge. Once in port, visitors will be able to board the tall ships and experience firsthand what it felt to be on the decks of a working ship of sail.
