Edgecomb Boat Works was started in 1987 by Mike Mayne, and was one of the early boatyards to find success without being on the water. Located on Route 27 on the Boothbay peninsula, the business has plenty of space and modern buildings. Edgecomb Boat Works has restored everything from skiffs to schooners, and has delivered boats to many of the contiguous states, Canada, and Europe. Early projects included a complete rebuild of a Herreshoff NY 30, an extensive rebuild of a 45-foot teak ketch, and various power and sail projects that established the yard as capable of providing the first-class work and care that discerning yachtsmen expect. In 1988, Mike restored the family Lyman “just to have a boat to use.” Since then, more than 150 Lyman boats and all makes of other runabouts have been restored. The yard installs modern engines and propulsion systems, does ABYC certified electrical work, and installation of all types of modern equipment and electronics for safety and reliability. Current projects include a 1970 37-foot Egg Harbor cruiser; the first Penbo trawler; 34-foot Appalachia; and restorations on Lymans and other runabouts. The shop also provides indoor storage, maintenance, and service to more than 60 wooden boats. |
