Alison Langley - Nautical Images

Alison lives on Penobscot Bay in Camden, Maine, and since the age of 11, when her father taught her how to capture images with a twin lens reflex camera, she as been passionate about photography.

After studying film at New York University and photography at RISD, Alison traveled to Sydney, Australia, where she worked in film industry for 4 years.

She then crewed on various yachts that took her around Australia, through the North & South Pacific, South East Asia, and across the Indian Ocean to Africa. During this time, she honed a specialty for shooting sailing and travel images. During this voyage, she created a substantial travel/sailing stock library. Her images have been published regularly in Cruising World, Marie Claire, Sail, Islands, and Patagonia.

Upon her return to the US in 1992, Alison joined and managed a photo stock agency, Stock Newport, for 8 years before becoming a full-time, freelance photographer in 1999.

Today, Alison lives in Camden with her Norwegian husband, Trygve, and children. Her chase boat, Tangent, is a 25-foot Mako with a custom 10-foot shooting platform.

Alison shoots for clients on assignment, and maintains a large archive of stock images. Her prints and products can be purchased in shops along the coast or via www.langleyphoto.com [1]. Alison's new gallery is opening on November 29th. The gallery will be open from 10:00 to 6:00 weekdays and 12:00 to 4:00 on weekends.
