Our goal is to personalize your kayak with a wood strip deck and inlaid patterns of your favorite designs. The deck stripping is completed without staples for a more pleasing look. I am currently working on the Mermaid with textured overlay art of full-length mermaids on the deck with tails extending down onto the hull. Our kayak hulls are constructed with 4mm marine grade plywood that is both lightweight and strong. Full-length plywood planks are joined with and the seams are filled with epoxy. Both hull and deck are covered with 4-oz fiberglass inside and 6-oz fiberglass on the exterior. Four coats of 2-part polyurethane provide a clear glossy finish that does not darken while protecting from UV rays. Wood is stiff resulting in an effortless glide enabling you to travel a greater distance. The shoreline of Maine has endless beauty and variety, but unless one owns a boat, there is very little of the coast that can be seen or accessed. Not wanting to burn fossil fuels or listen to the engine noise created while doing so, my wife and I started kayaking in 1996 finding the ideal solution. |
