August 1: Castine
Castine Classic Race Celebrates Anna’s Launch and Dorade’s return
The Castine Yacht Club and Sparkman & Stephens will host a celebration in Castine on August 1 of the launching of the new S&S designed 56' sloop Anna and the return to our shores of its historic precursor, Dorade. Anna, built and launched this year by Brooklin Boat Yard, is reminiscent above the waterline of the classic S&S design Stormy Weather and traces its roots to the famous yacht Dorade. Eggemoggin Reach Regatta
Ninety-two boats raced last year with great wind and great fun. Sign up before July 1, 2007 to avoid a late entry fee. The Swan's Island Music Festival is coming back again this year to liven up the celebration. August 5: Sebago Lake
Build a Sand Castle Day
Maine resident Ed Jarrett currently holds the record for building the world’s largest sand castle, this will be his third attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the tallest sand castle. All proceeds from the event will benefit Camp Sunshine, a national retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, as well as the Maine Snow and Ice Sculpting Foundation. The event will be held at Point Sebago Resort, Construction begins over the Fourth of July weekend and will end on Labor Day weekend. FMI: www.onegrainofsand.org

August 10-12, 2007: Harbor & Buoy Parks, Rockland
Fifth Annual Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show
The show will once again feature boats in the water, boats on land, fine furniture and home wares, the arts, architecture, delicious food, and lots of fun. This event is Maine's only in-the-water boat show, and it is also the only show to feature dozens of Maine's most talented furniture makers, architects, and builders combined on one spectacular waterfront site. These craftsmen present all the essential components for living the good life on the coast of Maine. There will be hands-on demonstrations, live music, children's activities, exhibits, and, of course, the ever-popular World Championship Boatyard Dog® Trials on Sunday (only pre-entered dogs may compete, see maineboats.com for entry information). $10 adult, under 12 free. Coastal Creativity Week in Rockland
The Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show has sparked a city-wide collaboration of fun events in Rockland, loosely called the “Coastal Creativity Week.” Here's what's happening:

August 11: Rockland
The Farnsworth Art Museum’s “Paint the Town,”
Participating artists will be at their easels throughout town. All artwork will be auctioned at the museum, from 4-6 p.m. Proceeds to benefit the Farnsworth Art Museum, 16 Museum St. FMI: 207-596-6457 or.

Andrew Wyeth at 90.
An exhibition of Wyeth’s best-known works, in celebration of his 90th birthday. On display at the Farnsworth Art Museum’s Hadlock Gallery through October 21.

“Our Neighbors’ Gardens”
August 11, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. A walking tour of 10 gardens in the neighborhood of the Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St. Hosted by the Friends of the Rockland Public Library. Maine Fairy House Festival
Enter a world where small visitors rule at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Award-winning fairy-book author Tracy Kane will be featured, along with professional storytellers, dancers, a fairy house & garden tour, workshops on building fairy houses and gardens – even wands and crowns. A fairy tea and fairy dance, fairy puppets, fairy gifts, and fairy this 'n' that will

August 25-26: Salem, Massachusetts
25th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Festival
More than 40 elegant antique and classic yachts will be on display to the public in the host city of Salem for this festival. The yachts are mostly wood and primarily private; many are museum-quality. The vessels will be on display at Hawthorne Cove Marina, 10 White Street. They will sport period décor and table settings, polished brass, and gleaming wood. Attendees can vote for their favorite boat and enjoy a crafts market, old-fashioned band music, and a blessing of the fleet. Hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. August 31, September 1st & 2nd: Camden
The 13th Annual Windjammer Weekend
The largest annual gathering of historic tall ships in the U.S; with a spectacular parade of sail against the majestic pine-shrouded backdrop of Camden Hills. Visitors will be able to watch the parade of 20+ tall ships of sail make their way into Camden harbor. Once in port, visitors will be able to board the tall ships and experience firsthand what it felt to be on the decks of a working ship of sail.
