History Making Sailor Speaking in Portland

If you’re looking for a reason to get out of the house in early March—and who isn’t?—sailors can head for Portland, where round-the-world racer Kirsten Neuschäfer, winner of the Golden Globe Race, is giving a talk on behalf of the Portland Yacht Club.

The event is being held at the University of Southern Maine’s Hannaford Hall, 88 Bedford St., Portland, at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday March 3. Tickets are $25 and can be ordered online.

The Golden Globe Race is a solo, 30,000-mile non-stop dash around the planet. Neuschäfer crossed the finish line in France first in her Cape George 36 sailboat, Minnehaha, after 233 days at sea, topping a fleet of 17 boats.
