Retro ad

Just love the retro ads. How can we go keeping a bit of our past alive? Keep them coming.

sea skiffs

The Sea skiffs were an important boat in the NY/Nj area. They evolved from the Sea Bright skiffs that fished off of the beaches. At the time of this ad, they were fast power cruisers that also found a life of crime in running booze. Some also were used to catch the runners of booze. Sometimes, they runner and the chaser were built in the same yard. At the same time.

Retro Ad Information

Stacey, thanks for your note. We don't always have a lot of historical information about each ad but we can publish the year it appeared. I added the year to yesterday's retro ad and I'll try to do that going forward. You will notice that I often run a series from one year before moving on to another era. I'm glad you enjoy the retro ads and thanks for commenting.

The retro ads are cool.

The retro ads are cool. Anyone who loves boats usually loves the history of boats. Since most of these ads are before my time it would be neat to indicate the year the ad was run....and when possible what year(s) the particular boat model advertised was built.
