Rockport Marine

Rockport Marine, located in scenic Rockport Harbor on the west coast of Penobscot Bay, has gained a worldwide reputation as a premier yard for the construction and restoration of wooden boats. Rockport Marine’s craftsmen and women are as adept at traditional, plank-on-frame construction methods as they are at modern, wood composite techniques. Our boats range from the traditionally-built, Jamestown replica GODSPEED; to the racing greyhounds of the “W”-class, such as WHITE WINGS; to GOSHAWK, a foam core, wood-carbon composite design.

Over the years, Rockport Marine has built and restored many types of boats, using many different building techniques. We have built power boats and sailing yachts, boats for non-profit organizations and for private individuals. Each project is unique and requires its own approach. Adapting our skills to our customer’s needs is one of Rockport Marine’s strengths.

The yard employs a crew of 45 people, including carpenters, painters, fabricators, electricians and riggers. It is a full-service yard, with a 50-ton travel lift, crane and winter storage facilities. We offer launch and mast-stepping services and we are available for repair work. Rockport Marine also offers design services for both the recreational yachtsman and the marine professional. Our crew is known for their excellent craftsmanship, knowledge of wooden boats, and their camaraderie and enthusiasm.
