Kennebunkport Marina Welcomes Shawn Dumas as Operations Manager

Industry veteran Shawn Dumas has joined Kennebunkport Marina as operations manager. In this role, he will help the marina prepare and plan for future growth and expansion.

Dumas has worked in the marine industry in Southern Maine since the early 1980s. Learning from the ground up, he started as a yard worker at a family shop in Arundel then became a certified master technician. After transferring to Yankee Marina, he gained significant experience working with marine engines and complex vessel systems from small boats to 60' yachts. In 2004, Dumas was hired on as an outboard technician at Yarmouth Boat Yard. Over the next 14 years, he grew through the ranks, learning all aspects of the business from sales and parts to service, and eventually became the general manager. His expertise and understanding of customer needs coupled with his knowledge of boats and engines helped the company sustain significant growth.

“I have always had the utmost respect for the needs of customers. They are relying on us, as their boat servicer, to keep their friends and family safe when they go out on the water,” explained Dumas. “I take that responsibility to heart and enjoy building stalwart teams that support that mission.”

The Kennebunkport Marina offers seasonal and transient slips, boat rentals and a marine supply store on the Kennebunk River. The full-service marina can accommodate boats approximately 100' in length. Marina owner Michael Shea said Dumas’s “keen insight and broad industry experience will provide strong guidance in evolving our operations. Together with Cathy Norton, Marina Manager, and Gary Mulsow, Yard Supervisor, this skilled management team will work to upgrade current marina amenities and expand and enhance service offerings.”

Shea said the marina expects to hire additional staff in the near future to help facilitate this growth.
